Began training in vocal and Bharatanatyam at the age of 7. Initiated into Bharatanatyam by Guru Pandanallur Muthiah Pillai, Bangalore and later had debut at the age of 15 under the guidance of Ms. Sundari Seshadri (Kittappa Pillai school) of Delhi. Subsequently enhanced style by undergoing training under the Dhananjayans, Madras. Took a short one-on-one workshop with Prof. C.V. Chandrasekhar of Baroda.

Simultaneously, developed an interest in a new style - the graceful enchanting Mohiniattam dance of Kerala and took lessons from famous exponents Kalamandalam Usna Banu and Kshemavathi of Kerala.
